The aim was to create an interesting design

We chose the forest as our design theme for its rich life forms. It presented an exciting possibility for creating an unusual design. After several sketches with combinations of elements like animals and trees, we identified the most striking ones. Later, small elements were added to build a story into the design.

The implementation of the design was a factor we kept in mind while choosing the elements, and laying them out in their final composition. This ideation stage provided us with the initial paper sketch to be translated into its final form on the computer.

On the computer, we traced the details of the design

Once the design framework was scanned into the computer, we attended to the details of every element. Lines and curves were specified and shades and tones matched on our CAD machines.

The different possibilities we tried out helped us determine the best form for the final composition. We found our design lived upto its vivid potential in a realistic finish.

The right weave was chosen from our large library of weave files

The design was tried in different weave variations with repeats. The weave structures were accessed from our library of weave files. If a suitable weave structure had not been found, a new one would have been created for the design. However, this process was shortened as we did find the required weave structure from our library.

We chose a weave structure that gave the desired realistic effect and sent the design for test weaving.

Taking the fabric to its final form involved attention to detail

Several trial weaves were done to obtain fabric samples. From the computer to the loom and back again, the samples were tested until the perfect fabric was obtained. The design was woven in different blend percentages and colours to the right finish.

Spun silk was found to be the ideal yarn. It enhanced the design and suited the fabric's area of use. The design was then sent for the final weaving process.
