Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is central to the operating philosophy as it is the Group's constant endeavour to ensure that its businesses uphold the highest standards of governance and compliance. The Group nurtures initiatives that give its employees and other citizens the opportunity to enhance their standard of living, pursue further education and train to become more promising professionals.

Himatsingka is involved in empowering young women from rural families in and around the Hassan district in Karnataka, India. Along with working at the manufacturing facility, these women are encouraged to take up suitable courses enabling them to graduate from the Himatsingka Learning Academy. These women epitomize the "Learn while you earn" concept.

The Himatsingka Learning Academy (HLA) provides them with health care and nurtures their personality while they complete their diplomas and degrees through the Academy during their employment tenure. The HLA has tie-ups with district universities and other educational institutes which offer recognized certifications and degrees to the students of the Academy.

The Himatsingka hostels offer accommodation for women working at the manufacturing facility. 'A home away from home', these hostels provide comfortable living and ensure a sense of community. The hostels also have several recreational activities for its residents.



This 'Train the Trainer' program is conducted on a yearly basis for pre-university lecturers in and around the Hassan District. The program covers various topics such as 'The Art of Teaching', 'Modern Techniques of Classroom Teaching', 'People Challenges at Hassan' amongst others. In an effort to provide for the best, the HLA considers it essential to impart appropriate teaching techniques to ensure better learning and a good future for students in these universities.

Further Education Program (FEP)

The Himatsingka Learning Academy offers FEPs (Further Education Programs) to provide and facilitate education for its employees with the aim of encouraging higher education among the young women and men in the organization.

Conventional courses are offered using unconventional methods, viz., distance education. Presently, the Academy offers degree courses in B.A. and B.Com from the 'Karnataka State Open University'. Full time classes are arranged on premise, which employees attend regularly without impacting their work schedules.

FEP-Technical, a specialized program, aims at developing the professional knowledge and technical competence of an individual in his department or line of work. This course helps in the career progress of the employees within the organization. Currently, the Academy offers the following certifications under this program –

- Certificate Course in Yarn Production
- Certificate Course in Fabric Production
- Certificate Course in Chemical Processing
- Certificate Course in Garment Manufacturing
- Certificate Course in Quality Control

HLA also conducts a Language Lab with certified courses for Business English Communication.
